Introductory Session

All new clients at Movementor Pilates are advised to take an Introductory Session. We meet you individually, gain some health and fitness history and begin to teach you the fundamental Pilates principles. We will do a postural assessment and fitness screen which will enable us to prepare an appropriate program or direct you into the correct class level. You will leave feeling lighter and a little more aware of your posture and body.

Private One on One Session/Personal Training

These sessions are ideally for those clients who require a little more supervision with regard to pain, injury or specific medical or health conditions which require monitoring. Also, people who are training for specific events or sports or with specific goals, find the more individual approach useful.

Private Duet/ Group of Two

These sessions are particularly well suited to couples or friends keen to work out together but with a slightly more individualised approach then the equipment circuits.  A mix of mat work and equipment work give you an all over body workout or specific goals can be set for each person.

Studio Equipment Group and Circuit Groups

Once you have completed your Introductory session plus an extra one on one session you can choose to join one of these Equipment groups which run similar to a circuit class. They are a great way for you to train with friends or family (Maximum four per group) and allow you to work at your own level in a group setting. Circuit cards will guide you through a varied workout on the all the apparatus and one instructor will float to assist with set up, technique and variations. From time to time it may be suggested that another one on one session would be useful to focus on some individual goals and to check you technique.

Mat Classes

Our mat classes run on a term basis and are scheduled by demand each term. It is advised that a one on one session or six week beginner course is completed before absolute neginners join a class. This will teach you the Pilates fundamental principles and you will become aware of your postural type so you can keep yourself safe during classes. If you have prior Pilates experience give us a call and we can put you in the right class.
Beginner courses will be run on demand. Mats are provided. Maximum 10 people per class.

Healthy Spine Healthy Spine Restorative Mat Class

We have added this new class to cater for clients who have some ongoing limitations which are difficult to monitor in the other classes or are not quite ready for the mainstream mat classes due to a recovering injury/illness.  Our hope is that this class will offer a really positive place for anyone who needs a slower more careful approach to focus on movement they are capable of rather than always having to modify something you are not ready for yet.  It will also function as a restorative or ‘bridging’ type class whereby it may be used as a transition stage before joining the other classes after injury, illness or other break from Pilates. If you have questions or would like to know if this class would suit you please email info@movementorpilates.co.nz or phone 0508 PILATES.

Ante Natal/Pregnancy Mat Classes

This will be a gentle mat class using Swiss balls and small props to maintain strength and bring awareness to your changing body. We will learn breath and pelvic floor control and work at a comfortable pace. It is necessary to gain clearance from your Lead Maternity Caregiver (midwife, GP or obstetrician) and you will be asked to sign a Pregnancy Pilates waiver before commencing this class. It is a great opportunity to share your experience with other pregnant women and treat yourself to something special.
